Suman Dhun is an Environmental engineer with 12 years experience of working with academic institutions, non-governmental organizations and private consulting in the field of sanitation, waste management, disaster response, research and project management.

He received the Bill & Melinda Gates Fellowship Award in 2018 towards the six months ‘Training of Trainers’ and ‘Graduate Professional Diploma Program’ in Sanitation at UNESCO IHE-Delft in Netherlands. As an outcome of this fellowship, he played a key coordinating role in transferring the sanitation related programs to Kathmandu University, Tribhuvan University and Pokhara University under the Global Sanitation Graduate School (GSGS) framework.

Mr. Shrestha has been a member of technical committee and thematic working group for Citywide Inclusive Sanitation for Nepal Bureau of Statistics & Metrology and Ministry of Water Supply respectively. He has experience of working as Consultant researcher and expert for Practical Action Consulting and United Nation Development Program in Nepal (UNDP). He serves as the President of ‘Sakura Science Club Nepal’ formed by Japan Science & Technology Agency (JST) that aims to promote the Sakura Exchange alumni activities in Nepal.

Earlier he achieved Masters of Science in Disaster Management & Sustainable Development from Northumbria University – United Kingdom with support of Tshering Lama – Northumbria University Scholarship and Bachelor of Technology in Environmental Engineering from Kathmandu University – Nepal. He is the Visiting Faculty at Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering (TU IoE) Purbanchal Campus in Dharan and Kathmandu University Department of Civil Engineering to teach Sanitation related courses at Masters level.
